Japanese and International Students Experience Local Industries Together (I-GFL)*
As part of the I-GFL program, launched in April 2026, Japanese and international students recently collaborated in “Buddy G-Exploration”—a hands-on initiative designed to explore and engage with regional industries.
Hosted with the generous cooperation of Yoshinoen Co., Ltd., an organic farming enterprise based in Maebashi City, this two-day practical program offered students a valuable hands-on learning experience. On the first day, students engaged in harvesting and processing activities at the farm, while the second day focused on product sales at “Roadside Station Maebashi Akagi.”
Through this program, students gained a comprehensive understanding of agriculture—the foundation of human life—covering everything from production and distribution to business management. Beyond simply discovering the appeal of the vegetables, they deeply considered critical challenges such as quality maintenance and sustainable business practices. Furthermore, it served as a valuable opportunity for them to identify connections between agriculture and their respective academic majors, such as education, information technology, healthcare, and engineering.
Mr. Iyoku, the company representative, shared valuable insights into both the potential and the harsh realities of the agricultural industry, offering an encouraging message filled with high expectations for the students as the resilient leaders of the next generation who will shape a better future.

*Interdisciplinary Program for Global Frontier Leaders
An international collaborative education program designed to cultivate resilient leaders capable of thriving across national and disciplinary boundaries in any environment. The program features cross-disciplinary discussions with students from various faculties and international students, as well as hands-on experiences with local industries in Gunma Prefecture conducted in pairs with international students. All classes in this program are conducted in English.
