Launch of the “Interdisciplinary Program for Global Frontier Leaders (I-GFL)” ~Opening Ceremony Held on April 28, 2026~
On April 28, 2026, Gunma University held the opening ceremony for the newly launched special major program, the “Interdisciplinary Program for Global Frontier Leaders” (I-GFL), with approximately 80 enrolled students in attendance.
The ceremony began with an address by President Ishizaki. Following the President’s address, Vice President Iijima, who led the establishment of I-GFL, offered encouraging remarks: “Through this program, I hope you will continue to learn and develop your individual strengths through discussions with your peers about how to approach various challenges and identify what is truly needed. I also hope to shape and grow this program together with all of you.” Professor Watanabe, Director of the Global Initiative Center, also shared personal experiences from her own student days and expressed her support for the students: “I am delighted to see such a strong willingness to take on new challenges. This program offers a valuable opportunity to develop the ability to learn and think in English, and I look forward to supporting all of you in your endeavors.”
Throughout the program, students will engage in interdisciplinary discussions that transcend both national borders and academic fields through interactions with peers from diverse backgrounds. In addition, the curriculum includes an internship program in which domestic and international students will work in pairs to gain practical experience at local companies and organizations.
