Faculty of Social and Information Studies & Graduate School of Social and Information Studies

Modern society is perceived as an information-oriented society with rapid development in computers and communication systems. Accumulating extensive knowledge and skills in computer science and information systems is important. In detail, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of society as well as the types of information sent and received by the individual, corporate firm or administrative organization, and to acknowledge the impact of information upon each individual, corporate firm, public administration and regional society. Moreover, there is a growing need to project social ideals that can withstand the impact of these changes. The Faculty of Social and Information Studies aims to educate individuals with the ability to handle these problems from a broad perspective.

This faculty wishes to become an academic pioneer in the relatively new field "Social and Information Studies".

Students who enroll in this program have a choice of three courses to major in.

 1) Social and information behavior
 2) Government policy/public administration information
 3) Economic and business information

The new interdisciplinary field of social and information studies, combining the humanities and social sciences with information science, has been developed in an effort to respond to the diverse demands of the advanced information society. Through study and research that seek ways to preserve humanity in the advanced information age and create a society in which people can pursue rich and fulfilled lives, we aim to equip students with the international outlook and essentials of social scientific thinking that will enable them to pursue careers in public, business, and local sectors.
